Leveling
At Boogaloo, we believe pole is for every body and every journey. Our levels are designed to guide you step by step — from your very first spins to mastering powerful tricks and fluid flow. Each stage has its own focus, goals, and playful challenges to keep you moving forward with confidence.
Not sure where you fit? Start where it feels right, and trust that your strength, technique, and sass will grow along the way. When you’re ready, we’ll help you level up. 💖
level 0 (L0)
This level is about building confidence and comfort with the pole. You'll learn the foundational movements, body positioning, and how to safely grip and spin.
This is a low-pressure space where we focus on having fun, getting familiar with the pole, and starting to build upper body and core strength.
- Perform beginner spins with control and clean form
- Move smoothly around the pole and use basic transitions
- Hold your body weight slightly off the floor using grip and core
- Understand how to warm up safely and grip properly
level 2 (L2)
level 1 (L1)
Here we start working more dynamically with the pole — climbing, sitting, and beginning to build strength for future inverts.
You’ll refine spin technique and work on connecting moves to build simple combos.
- Climb at least ¾ of the pole and safely descend
- Hold a Pole Sit for at least 5 seconds
- Link 2–3 beginner tricks in a combo with control
- Perform beginner spins with polish and balance
- Start prepping for inversions through strength drills and technique
This is the bridge between beginner and intermediate. You'll work on the technique and strength needed to go upside down safely.
You’ll begin learning controlled inverts and holding basic inverted tricks.
- Invert cleanly from the floor with control (no jump)
- Climb and hold an Outside Leg Hang
- Hold an inverted trick (e.g., Cross Knee Release, Jasmine from invert)
- Show awareness of body lines and safe engagement while upside down
- Connect upright and inverted movements
level 3 (L3)
At this level, you’ll begin learning more complex tricks and combinations.
The focus is on fluidity, clean technique, and building sequences of upright and inverted tricks. You’ll also work on transitions between tricks and improving aerial awareness.
- Aerial invert confidently and safely
- Hold multiple intermediate tricks with control
- Link 3+ tricks into a combo (including upright and inverted moves)
- Shoulder mount with good form
- Work on both static and spin pole (if available)
level 4 (L4)
In this level, you’ll expand on your skill set with more challenging moves, dynamic transitions, and endurance-focused combos.
Students here have strong technique, control, and confidence in the air.
- Execute longer aerial combos with fluid transitions
- Hold advanced tricks with strength and clean lines
- Understand and demonstrate safe spotting, exits, and self-awareness
- Start exploring handspring entries and higher-level strength tricks
